In celebration of Chopin's and Schumann's 200th birthdays and Samuel Barber's 100th birthday, the recitals will feature works by these composers. Part of Piccolo Spoleto Festival's Young Artists Series.
A wealth of talent
Every day of Piccolo Spoleto, multiple generations of talent will gather at College of Charleston's Recital Hall in the Simons Center for the Arts. Brought together by a shared passion for music, the Young Artists Series places rising stars next to celebrated veterans and alumni of the College of Charleston. At the strike of noon, the sounds of skillfully played instruments can be heard bellowing out of the hall.
Playing the gamut
The musical genre is rotated daily, and performances include everything from chamber music to violin to opera and Broadway. Don't miss Charleston's youngest up-and-comers on May 31, as the prodigies from the Charleston Academy of Music perform. For those craving more international entertainment, check out the June 10 performance of "Songs Galore!" featuring art songs from around the world.
Heavily decorated performers
The year's roster boasts prizes from the Music Teachers National Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and VSA Young Soloists Award, just to name a few.
