Star pupils. The College of Charleston has a killer music department. This series provides a chance to hear the cream of its student and alumni crop. From Baroque to contemporary piano pieces, they'll be performing compositions by Gershwin, Paganini, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, and many others.
Choice acts. This established series keeps growing with each Piccolo, and the performers stretch themselves in unexpected directions. In one concert, Mozart's first opera Bastien and Bastienne is tackled; another is devoted to tango and Latin tunes.
Key performance. With more than 20 concerts on the roster, you'd be forgiven for being bewildered by the choices available. Our pick is May 30 for Gershwin, Paganini Variations, and other Showpieces for One and Two Pianos. It's got enough variety to showcase the talents of two of CofC's finest.
