Your long days of practicing hoochie glides and toeside backrolls will soon be acknowledged in the upcoming kiteboarding documentary, With A Kite. The film follows Charleston’s Davey Blair and his tight-knit group of kiteboarders to the Triple-S Invitational in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. “We must have been insane because doing a kiteboarding movie is really hard,” says the film’s co-director Adam Boozer. “But when I first went to the invitational, I was blown away by these really talented and interesting people — the best from all over the world — doing this sport that is so underexposed.” Jam out to local reggae band the Dubplates and grab a drink at the bar to get into the island vibe at the reception before the screening at 7:30 p.m. A Q&A with the filmmakers and riders will follow. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Tanzanian Educational Foundation which donates supplies to schools in Arusha, Tanzania. With A Kite won’t be available to watch again until spring 2014, so don’t miss your chance for a gnarly good time.
