Charleston-based singer/songwriter Will Hastings will celebrate the official release of his new EP My Human Condition this Thursday. Issued on the Seventeen70 Records label — a project stemming from the College of Charleston’s arts management program — the five-song disc features guest players from Weigh Station, Wadata, Long Miles, and Old You. Engineer Ryan Patrick Zimmerman (of local band Wylie) co-produced the collection with Hastings at a storage unit studio on Line Street. “It’s not perfect, and it was never supposed to be,” Hastings says. “I didn’t try to write any of these songs. They simply came tumbling out of me. I love that it doesn’t sound like studio robots. It’s just five kids rocking out.” Hastings released the EP’s lead single “Earlybird” in December at a big showcase called the Pre-Exam Jam at the Music Farm. The tune earned airplay on the Bridge at 105.5 and online play on the Chucktown Music Group’s Music of the Fortnight page).
