Widespread Panic concert tickets on sale

The Athens-based band returns for the autumn stint at the Coliseum

Tickets went on sale today for two upcoming Widespread Panic concerts scheduled for Fri. Nov. 27 and Sat. Nov. 28 at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Panic's local concerts have become an early autumn tradition for the band and their Charleston-area fans. Widespread Panic first formed in Athens in 1984 when guitarists Michael "Mikey" Houser and vocalist-guitarist John "J.B." Bell hooked up with bassist Dave Schools and drummer Todd Nance. By 1993, the quartet had expanded to a six-piece with keyboardist John "Jo Jo" Hermann and percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz.

Panic's new guitarist, Jimmy Herring (The Allman Brothers Band, The Grateful Dead, Phil Lesh & Friends, Aquarium Rescue Unit) recently replaced Houser who passed away in 2002. The band's latest studio album is titled Free Somehow.

Tickets are currently available for $32.50 at the Coliseum Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster outlets (including select Publix grocery stores), by phone 1-800-745-3000, and online at ticketmaster.com. Visit the Coliseum's snazzy new web headquarters at www.northcharlestoncoliseumpac.com
