Happy 2016, y'all. How ya feeling today? Yeah, us too. We never get into the swing of "new year, new me," until a few weeks, well, months, into the new year anyway. So this weekend don't worry about starting fresh, just stay how you are — because we think you're perfect chowin' down on brunch, catching live music, and swilling as many beers as your heart desires. Cheers to a new year with the same old fun.

Friday

Check out our cuisine blog detailing all the places you can get your healthy, wealthy, and wise meals which generally include hoppin' john, pork, and collards.

Hungover brunches are a holiday unto themselves and there are quite a few you can hit up today, including Warehouse's PJ-themed brunch. Roll out of bed, throw on some shades, and get to brunching.

Market Street Saloon Hosts Studs of Steel: Male Revue from 8-11 p.m. Hot, hot, and more hot. 

Stereo 8 hosts a New Year's Day Brunch with two DJ's on two turntables, drink specials from Finlandia Vodka and Jack Daniels, and dishes like poutine fries and a kimchee burger. The party starts at 11 a.m.

Polar Plunge your way into the New Year with a dip into the Atlantic at Folly or Sullivan's.

Saturday

Start the New Year with loads of music by heading to Monster Music & Movies for 20 percent off all new and used vinyl.

If you like your beer with a side of acoustic tunes check out Palmetto Brewery's Acoustic Unplugged series where Gravel Road will play form 4-6 p.m. in the tasting room.

The Stingrays take on the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:05 p.m. If you miss them today come back on Sunday when they cycle back to the 'clones with a 3:05 p.m. game

Rock out to Clash covers from the Sandinistas and the Black Iron Gathering at The Tin Roof starting at 9 p.m.

Yarn and the Trongone Band play jam and funk tunes at PoHo at 9:30 p.m.

Get your last bit of holiday cheer at Murphy's Diner with Jingle Bell Hop at 8 p.m.

Sunday

Catch the Soul Fish Duo at Rita's at 10 a.m.

Pearlz in Avondale hosts their first oyster roast of the New Year from 2-5 p.m. with four shucking tables, music from Sunflowers and Sin, and drink specials like $3 mimosas, $4 sangrias, and $1.50 High Life cans.

Chill out from the holidays with a zen meditation group at Holy Cow Yoga from 7:45-10:15 a.m.

The New Year is all about balance — find yours with Bendy Brewski Yoga at Holy City Brewing from 10 a.m.-noon. Reward yourself with a flight of beer.

This is the last night to catch James Island County Park's festival of lights, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

It ain't Sunday Phunday until the Phish cover band plays. Runaway Gin takes the PoHo stage at 6 p.m. for two full (and free) sets.
