Weekend Round-up: Festival Festivities

The best events in Charleston May 23-25

Talk about a mother of a weekend: Spoleto Festival USA, Piccolo Spoleto, Memorial Day, Charleston Recess, Southeastern Beard and Moustache competition, we could go on, but then there'd be no reason to check out the rest of the round-up. One thing's for sure, if you can't find something to do then you're not trying very hard.

Friday Kick off memorial day with some free concerts at Freshfields Village

Whether you want to see some dancers from Chicago or an opera about a dysfunctional family, Spoleto's got you covered.

Saturday Let's just take a minute to ponder what First Flush is really about and the fact that we have a festival revolving around a tea plantation's first harvest of leaves. Charleston never ceases to amaze, and in typical style we're making a party around it.

For those beard-lovers out there, this is your mecca. Go get your facial hair high on at the Music Farm during the Southeastern Beard and Moustache Championship

Triangle in Mt. P wants to kickoff summer and help animals at the same time. Bring pet food, peanut butter, or cash and party for the pups.

Ever wonder what you would do if you came across someone who looked identical to you but had the complete opposite of your personality. That's what happens for Jesse Einsberg's character(s) in The Double.

Party at the Mt. Pleasant Pier for a good cause at the Share Our Suzy event — and it raises money for cancer charities, double win.

Get ready for the World Cup by cheering on the Battery.

Sunday Start your Sunday with some yoga at The Orange Spot.

We take biking pretty seriously around the office. Some of us have even named our bikes. They've become a part of our family, which is why we'll be hitting up Marion Square for the annual Blessing of the Bikes

We've already picked our roller derby name (Sylvia Bloodbath). Now we've just got to practice to make sure we get on the team. Good thing the Lowcountry Highrollers are hosting training sessions leading up to tryouts.

The Charleston Harbor and Resort hosts a craft bazaar once a month. Check it out this Sunday for some local goods as well as food, drinks, and music.

End the weekend with some laughs at the Charleston Music Hall's last installment of their stand-up series.

For those brave ladies out there, compete in the Budweiser Bikini Bash at the Windjammer. Winners walk away with $500.

DJs, a fashion show, and poolside drinks — what better way is there to celebrate Memorial Day? Charleston Recess didn't think there was a better way either.

We've been rocking white for a while now, but that doesn't mean we won't be kicking off the official start of the season at O-Ku's White Party.
