Wacky wieners at the Joe

The RiverDogs add to the fun with pickle dogs & more

Dog World is the number one attraction for us when we go to the Joe for a RiverDogs game because that's where you can find The Homewrecker — a half-pound, foot-long weenie on which you can pile up to 25 toppings. If your appetite is just not that big, they've got some new gourmet dogs to choose from this season.

The Beantown is a top-sliced bun with spicy mustard, baked beans, and onions as toppings. Then there's the Yankee Dog: wiener, brown mustard, sauerkraut, and chow-chow.

But the concoction making our mouths water? The pickle dog. Yes, pickle dog. Instead of a standard soft bread bun, the weenie nestles inside a pickle. Top it with cole slaw and you've got yourself one sour pickle dog.

Other new food items include sweet potato waffle fries, soft-serve ice cream, and freshly baked cookies.

Opening day is Thursday, April 8 when the RiverDogs play the Lexington Legends at 7:05 p.m. And as always, it's Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, which means plenty of $1 food and drink deals. See you there.
