Jaimy Gordon has written four novels and teaches at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. And she won the 2010 National Book Award for Fiction for Lords of Misrule. No big deal. Well, actually it sort of was. Gordon came out of nowhere to win for her story about horse racing in West Virginia. The College of Charleston is bringing Gordon to the school as part of its Visiting Writers Series. At 2 p.m., the author will participate in a question-and-answer session in room 107 of Maybank Hall. She will read from her novel at 6 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Hall. Bibliophiles should be pretty excited about this literary event.
