Credible beauty advice seems to be a rarity these days, especially since the invention of the Bump It and the vibrating mascara wand. But luckily, the Turn Back Time event, hosted by the Charleston branch of Fashion Group International, has come to save us with tips on how to look and feel our best. The branch was launched last year by Rosanna Krekel to bring Charleston to the forefront of beauty and fashion, like many other FGI cities — Paris, Dallas, and Los Angeles, to name a few. “This is a first for Charleston,” Krekel says. “It’s a really unique opportunity. These noteworthy experts are coming to Charleston solely because of this organization.” Participants will go from sipping cocktails poolside at Charleston Place to listening to W Magazine Beauty Director Jane Larkworthy lead a discussion with field experts on the cutting-edge trends in beauty and skin care. The panel will include Bumble and Bumble President Peter Lichtenthal, Beyond Botox author Howard Kaminsky, local wellness expert and author Dr. Ann Kulze, and integrative dermatologist Dr. McLean Sheperd. Guests will learn all about nutrition, cancer prevention, anti-aging techniques, and makeovers. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Melanoma Initiative.
