Instead of watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, sign up for the Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble, a 5K race held on Thanksgiving morning. The race originated nearly a century ago, which makes it one of the oldest and largest 5K races in South Carolina. The course begins at Marion Square and loops around some of the city's most historic landmarks, like Hibernian Hall and the Battery. It concludes back at Marion Square, where racers can refuel with breakfast refreshments and free beer. They'll have live music and cash prizes to hand out too. The top male and female racers will win $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $100 for finishing third. Proceeds are dispersed among various organizations in the Lowcountry, which in the past have included nonprofits like Camp Happy Days, Crisis Ministries, and the Special Olympics.
