Thrice w/ Kevin Devine & His Goddamn Band, Bad Veins, The Dig

When: Wed., June 30 2010
Price: $21, $17.50 (adv.)
Don’t let their smiling, nice-guy faces fool you: California band Thrice’s music is genuine, guitar-driven alternative rock. The band released their sixth and most recent album, Beggars (Vagrant), last September, and the disc took the fifth spot on Alternative Press’ Best Albums of 2009 list. The album includes a multi-faceted collection of songs, from the piano-centric “Doublespeak” to the drum-heavy “All the World is Mad.” Singer/guitarist Dustin Kensrue, guitarist Teppei Teranishi, drummer Riley Breckenridge, and bassist Eddie Breckenridge formed the Orange County-based group in 1998 and released their debut album, Identity Crisis, in 2001. The band’s 2010 summer tour with Kevin Devine & His Goddamn Band (or, as the Charleston Scene lists them: "Kevin Devine & His [Expletive] Band"), Bad Veins, and The Dig kicked off in early June and lands in Charleston at the Music Farm this week. —Kelly Smith
