Hidden just a couple hundred feet off the main drag of Folly Beach's Center Street, the 'Wich Doctor is serving up out-of-the-ordinary sandwiches and pizza. The vibrant little shack has a laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy a fat slab of succulent pork belly topped with a delicate sunny-side-up egg, runny yolk just waiting to infiltrate layers of shaved cabbage and tomatoes on buttery, toasted bread. The Hanoi Hoagie is full of flavor, with juicy slices of lemongrass beef, julienned carrots, fresh cilantro, and nuoc cham (a Vietnamese condiment made with citrus and fish sauce). Traditional sandwiches are also available, like pastrami on rye and a killer turkey bacon club. While the sandwiches are solid, the specialty pizzas are a must try. The white clam pizza has a garlic butter base with ricotta, lemon, Italian parsley, and, of course, clams. There's usually a weekly grilled cheese special, and we highly recommend checking out noodle night on Thursdays. —Eric Doksa, Dish (Summer 2012)
