Buffalo Trace Manhattan

Buffalo Trace Manhattan

The Speakeasy doesn’t advertise and it doesn’t even have a sign, yet it’s managed to earn a reputation as one of the city’s coolest cocktail bars. And if you can manage to find it, you’ll find out why. On weeknights, you can typically just head up the stairs to Light and duck into the unmarked door on the left. On busier nights, look for a dapper gentleman standing on the sidewalk, and he should be able to help you get in (or at least on the list). The space is dark and intimate, and the drink list is serious. Try the moonshine flight — featuring original, cherry, apple pie, and strawberry flavors — or go for something sweeter like the White Peacock, a blend of absinthe, St. Germain, gin, and pineapple served over a massive ice cube. —Erica Jackson Curran Dish (Winter 2013)

NOTE: On April 2, a late-night fire forced the closure of Light, The Brick, Speakeasy, and Squeeze. Stay tuned to the CP for more info on what's next and find out how you can help.
