The Footlight Players kick off their Late Night Series with a melancholy Irish play from Conor McPherson. Set in a typical, rural Irish pub, The Weir invites the audience in on a blustery night to listen as four men drink whisky and swap ghost stories. Their goal is to impress a beautiful woman who’s just moved to town from Dublin. Tales range from an unsettling account of a faerie road to one about how the woman’s new home came to be haunted. When they’re done one-upping each other, the newcomer quiets them all with the haunting story of why she left the city. It’s Irish storytelling at its finest. —Erica Jackson
