THE WEEKLY GEEKLY ‌ Shutterblogs

Some bloggers using cameras instead of keyboards

As the tech of blogging gets increasingly easier, more and more photo and video blogs (a.k.a. "vlogs") are popping up — and we've got our share of 'em in Chucktown.

Don't get me wrong: I like reading, even on a monitor. But sometimes the Frosted Flake-munching, Yoohoo-chugging, Great Space Coaster-loving kid in me wants to just look at stuff, and not have to engage the left side of my brain. Luckily, I found (thanks to a few on-the-ball readers) a few sites that provide just that type of palate-cleansing, visually stimulating entertainment.

Radcliffebytes ( For going on six months now, Radcliffebytes has posted a cool collection of photos of houses, storefronts, yards, and things you've walked by a million times and never noticed, like sidewalk art, stained glass windows, and grave markers. No cornball Rainbow Row pics here, but you can find a sweet shot of the Three Pals Tavern.

Walk This Way ( A combo photo/text blog, Walk This Way has photos from all across the Lowcountry, and "the jumbled thoughts" that go through her head while shooting (e.g. "I'm still not doing my taxes, am I? Come do them for me. I'll bake you cookies. Macadamia and white chocolate."). It's a fun read, and a great way to clear your head before (pretending to be) getting back to work.

Notoriously Nice ( Warning: pet-happy blogger alert! If you're not a pet person, you're gonna want to click right past this sugary sweet l'il corner of the web. His photos frequently feature his cat and dog. Since I recently got a couple of cats of my own, I can relate to some of these shots (Oh, God: I just realized I own two cats and write a column about blogs. I'm just begging for a swirlie, aren't I? Note to self: pound a beer and change oil immediately after writing this.) There are a few non-pet-related shots here, but if you're not looking to go down Animal Planet Lane, you'll want to skip past this one.

OK, here's another shout for sites. My list is running low, and unless you wanna hear me plug my own podcast constantly, keep sending those links to me at
