The place to be for bluegrass lovers on Saturday night was the Music Farm, to catch punk-bluegrass band The Avett Brothers and opening act Chatham County Line, whose rock-tinged bluegrass and amazing harmonies warmed the crowd up admirably. By the time the Avett Brothers made it to the stage with their foot-stomping strumming and screaming, the crowd was ready to dance all night.

The Gibbes Museum of Art hosted its SunTrust Community Day on Sunday, with free admission from 1-5 p.m. There were live performances by Rollings School of the Arts Middle School, family story time and activities with Storyteller Mary Droge, and a meet-and-greet book signing with artist Jonathan Green.

Later that day, Mathew Schrock held Addiction, a showing of his mixed-media artwork from the past year at the Upper Deck Tavern. DJs Raptor and Mastodon provided hip-hop throughout the afternoon into the evening as patrons filled the bar.

Sunday also began the week-long installation of Motoi Yamamoto's salt labyrinth piece at the College of Charleston library. Check out www.halsey.cofc.edu for more info about the Force of Nature show.
