Kids and museums usually don’t mix. You’re not allowed to touch anything, you have to keep your mouth shut, and it's usually pretty boring. Hell, museums can be tough for adults too. But the Gibbes Museum of Art is working hard to make culture more fun for the young’uns by offering kid friendly performances. Composed by Laura Ball, this year’s production will be The Little Match Girl and will be performed by the Charleston Dance Institute and Chamber Music Charleston. The fairy tale tells the story of a poor young girl that has to sell matchsticks on New Year’s Eve but begins to see visions of her family and happier times when she lights the matches for warmth. After the show, enjoy refreshments and free admission tn the museum (located across the street from the Circular Church) and chat with the performers.
