You’re more likely to be familiar with the Vendue’s Rooftop Bar than its small dining room, but The Library at Vendue Inn is worth a visit. Chef Jude Wagner aims for elegance with dishes like lobster scampi and pan-roasted pheasant while he puts a twist on local classics with offerings like tempura fried shrimp and grits. Located in a hotel in the peninsula’s historic French Quarter, the Library’s intimate dining rooms make you feel like you’re the guest of a prominent old-school Charleston family, with traditional decor and artwork. It’s a romantic spot for a special occasion and a place to get in touch with Charleston’s historic character.
