What If? Productions can always be relied upon to supply Charleston’s theater scene with the weird, the absurd, and the farcical. They’ve come through for us yet again with the cult favorite The House of Yes, which tells the darkly comic tale of a young man named Marty, his painfully normal fiancée Lesly, and the ill-fated Thanksgiving when he brings her home to meet his creepy twin sister and their bizarre mother. “The House of Yes is very much like the theater company What If? itself: slightly off-center, charmingly bizarre, and downright hilarious at times,” says What If? Artistic Director and director of The House of Yes Kyle Barnette, who tapped New York actor Patrick Armheim to play Marty. What If? company member Carri Schwab plays the sinister sister Jackie-O, and Mary Fishburne is the unfortunate Lesly. “This particular production has been one of my favorites to work on simply because of the magnitude of talent we have in our show,” says Barnette. “This show’s humor as well as touchy subject matter is tricky to pull off, but these actors ‘get it.’”
