The Highrollers demolish the Derby Dames

Bout raised money for local school, and marked departure of a star player

The Lowcountry Highrollers owned the Greenville Derby Dames on Saturday night, dominating them with a 123-47 victory. The Dames just couldn't climb back from an early round of bruising jams that left them flat.

Star jammers Red Dread and Detroit Funk methodically punched through the pack and racked up point after point. These girls are at the peak of their game and pulled off a series of classic aggressive jams. The hefty lead allowed some other players to try on the jammer hat and shine, including DJ Pain.

Also sighted was a rare torpedo move. Red Dread grasped hands with Detroit Funk and then laid on her back, launching the Funkmeister forward with incredible speed.

The event was also a fundraiser for James Simons Elementary school and the girls gathered three boxes of school supplies and some solid cash to help the kids out. Called 2 Cruel 4 Skool, it offered discounts for people who brought supplies and gave $2 off to students and teachers.

Sadly, it was Miss Hawaiian Trip-a-bitch's last event for a while. She's moving away from Chucktown and the girls gathered in the center of of the track and showered her with love and hugs. She has been with the Highrollers since the early days and the girls were sad to see her go.

The Highrollers also showed some love to Steve Sommerdyke, who is about to begin a long tour in Kuwait. About 30 of his friends and family showed up to support him, and the girls gave their thanks with a huge, signed, team portrait.

I loved watching my Niece Katie (Detroit Funk) Congrats to the Lowcountry Highrollers and I hope I get to see them play in the future. When are you coming to Winston Salem.

All the best to the two who are moving away and a great big CONGRATULATIONS to the Lowcountry Highrollers for the win and helping out the school. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.
