Fried Chicken
This casual tavern refers to itself as "Charleston's Best Pub." A pretty accurate measure, we'd say. The ambiance and food may suggest a traditional British pub, but the heart of the Griffon is old-fashioned Southern cuisine. The collards are heavenly, and the fried pickles are worth trying. Regulars love the affordable daily blue plate specials like the perfectly seasoned Southern-fried pork chops, the thick meatloaf, and the crispy fried chicken. For drinking, beer enthusiasts can choose from a wide range of craft-brewed ales, lagers, and ciders on tap, making this a must-stop on your next beer tour. —T. Ballard Lesemann, Dish (Summer 2012)
