The Great Gatsby

When: June 4-5, 7 p.m. 2009
Phone: (843) 374-2656
Price: $30

The East Hamptons set the scene for this sweeping jazz age balletic interpretation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic novel. This true dance drama features colorful acting and narration set to the music of George Gershwin and a memorable trip back to a timeless era. (1 hour)

The Buzz:

WHAT IS IT? A dance tribute not only to the F. Scott Fitzgerald literary classic but also to the golden age of jazz and the music of George Gershwin. It’s a chance to let the present day slip away and imagine life in a far off time and place.

WHY SEE IT? We can expect a lot from the Charleston Ballet Theatre, because the troupe expects a lot from itself. Besides, Gatsby is a great story, and it’s hard to go wrong with Gershwin.

WHO SHOULD GO? Dance enthusiasts and Fitzgerald fans as well as anyone with a penchant for the East Hamptons and the romance of the Jazz Age. (Jason A. Zwiker)
