Christmas time with the entire family can sometimes leave you wanting to run away screaming and never looking back. Andy Livengood knows just how that feels, and he’s sharing his outlook with you in Theatre 99’s production of The Christmas Will Be Televised. In this one-man comedy show, Livengood takes audience members through all of the best Christmas movies and TV shows that this season has to offer, from A Christmas Story to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The show begins at the Livengood family’s annual Christmas Eve party, with Andy cringing at each awkward and embarrassing ritual. The only way out is to escape into holiday television specials. With a comedic take on each holiday film or show, Andy will put you in the Christmas spirit one giggle at a time. “A lot of Christmas stuff is geared toward kids and this is not,” says co-writer and Theatre 99 co-founder Greg Tavares. “It’s a way for adults to sip on a beer and get in the Christmas spirit.” Time to book that babysitter.
