Somebody once said, “Book lovers never go to bed alone.” OK, that somebody was a T-shirt of a librarian on the TV show Scandal, but that doesn’t make it less true. Bibliophiles, get ready to find a new stack of bedtime companions. The Charleston County Public Library hosts its annual That Summer Book Sale this weekend with more than 11,000 books up for grabs. Forage through title after title of books starting at a buck a piece. Children’s books ($0.50), CDs ($1), and DVDs ($2) are also available and more than affordable. And while your best bet for snatching up some treasures is attending the Friends of the Library members-only sale on Thursday, Emily Everett, executive director of the Friends of the Library, suggests not overlooking the “as-is” books on sale. They may be a little more loved (a.k.a. banged up), but “they make awesome display books and can be used for really cool arts and crafts projects,” she explains. Another not-to-miss stop? The CD section. Peruse some tunes that will take you back to your youth and buy them for less than the cost of a single on iTunes. If you can’t make it until Sunday, Everett says “You can still walk out with a boxful of prizes.”
