The Taste of Charleston has grown and grown and grown and become a marquee event of Southern Living magazine, which lends its name along with marketing and sponsorship muscle to this year’s event. The Waiters’ Race remains a star attraction as does the abundant food from 40 area restaurants.
Expect plenty of new travel booths and attractions too, including a presentation stage where you can meet the magazine’s editors and see cooking demos. There will be live music all day on Saturday and Sunday at the Boone Hall event, which benefits the Charleston Restaurant Association.
Prior to the big event at the plantation, there will be the annual Iron Chef competition at the Culinary Institute of Charleston. Expect fierceness and friendship among our local chefs as they vie for the title. Tickets to the Friday night event are sold separately via charlestonrestaurantassociation.com.
