Here’s what we’ve come to know about the partnership between The Granary and Palmetto Brewing Co: expect the unexpected. When these two pair up, the end result is always something different. Chef Brannon Florie makes sure the food is on point, and the brewers create unique beers just for their special beer dinners — from mango to wasabi suds. And this Sunday’s five-course Sustainable Seafood dinner is no different. “We’re not 100 percent on the beer list because they’re making a couple of beers for the dinner — just one-offs,” says Florie. “There could be a shrimp and grits beer. [Palmetto brewer Clint Vick] tried it last year, and I believe it was a fail, but he learned. He’s using the grits as the base along with shrimp stock. I’m not sure if we’ll serve it with a course or if it’ll be more of a try-this-weird-ass beer thing.” Abundant Seafood, Tobias Seafood, Coastal Mountain, and the S.C. Aquarium’s Sustainable Seafood Initiative (SSI) will provide the fish. And 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the SSI.
