Location, location, location. It doesn't really matter if you don't even like poetry. Set in the beautiful courtyard of the Dock Street Theatre, the Sundown Poetry Series offers a picturesque, relaxing way to end the day and begin the evening. Grab a glass of wine (CK), take a seat in the waning sunlight, and let the words wash over you.
Top 10. Ten accomplished poets will read their works throughout the series. Series veteran Horace Mungin kicks things off on May 30 with a reading focused on a 40-year poetic perspective of the cultural, social, and political landscape in America. South Carolina Poet Laureate Marjory Wentworth reads on May 31 followed by Lee Robinson, Helen Duckworth, Meredith Davies Hadaway, Jon Jacobs, Frances J. Pearce, Elon G. Eidenier, and Deborah Lawson Scott. L.A.-based performance poet Rich Ferguson, who's appeared on The Tonight Show, will wrap things up on June 10.
Peep the Dock Street. The dramatically renovated Dock Street Theatre made its public debut just in time for last year's festival, and it still feels shiny and new every time we walk in. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the historic building at no charge.
