Sun Dog Cat Moon and Dolittle's team up for fitness challenge

The biggest loser may be your dog

Is your pooch too pudgy? You may want to consider entering the new fitness challenge hosted by Sun Dog Cat Moon veterinary clinic and Dolittle’s pet store called "Fido...From Fat to Fit."

Over 50 percent of American dogs and cats are overweight and face a number of health issues, including heart disease and diabetes. The challenge’s goal is to address pet weight management and help dogs achieve healthier lifestyles.

Dr. Ruth Roberts of Sun Dog Cat Moon and Ric Sommons of Dolittle’s will lead 12 chosen contestants through a 12 week competition full of workshops, swimming, walking, pet massage, and seminars on diet control. The pups will weigh in every two weeks and the winning dog will be determined based on the percentage of weight lost during the weigh-ins and the total loss at the end of the 12 weeks.

The winning dog will enjoy a package of prizes including services and goodies from participating sponsors and a one year supply of all-natural, healthy dog food from Dolittle’s and Natura, a maker of natural organic pet food.

Interviews for potential canine contestants are being conducted through Mon. Jan. 18. Visit the Sun Cat Dog Moon website for applications and for signs that your dog may be more fat than fit. Call (843) 793-1380 for more info.
