Sullivan’s Island has plenty to celebrate. After recent heavy rain/snow virtually halted any oyster harvests, the Fire and Rescue Oyster Roast had to be postponed to a later date. Well, the sun has finally come out again. Not only has the Ben Sawyer Bridge reopened (no longer will we have to take the IOP Connector to get to Middle Street), but the popular oyster roast is also back on.
All of the previously promised goods will still be provided, including all-you-can-eat oysters, hot dogs, and fish stew. There will also be T-shirts, a live band, and a jump castle for the kiddies. Don’t forget to bring your own shucking utensil or else you’ll have to pry those oysters with your bare hands. Anyone who has already bought tickets for Feb. 13 can still come.
Tickets can be found at the Sullivan’s Island Fire Station, Town Hall, in the Piggly Wiggly at the Sea Island Shopping Center, Simmons Seafood, and Exit Realty. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the S.I. Fire Department and the volunteers. —Christina Janke
