Studio 58: Your Ticket to the Arts Beyond the Velvet Rope
Fri., Feb. 7, 8-11 p.m. 2014
$50/Society 1858 members, $80/non-members
If we could, we’d totally go back in time to party at Studio 54 with Andy Warhol and Martha Graham, Diane von Furstenberg and Mick Jagger, Grace Jones and Cher. But since we don’t own a DeLorean, we’ll just have to act like we’re in the ’70s at the Gibbes Museum of Art Studio 58 party. Attendees can expect the velvet-rope treatment with retro-themed bites provided by Cru Catering and Fuel. Drinks will be courtesy of Cathead Vodka, Westbrook Brewery, and the Wine Shop. The festivities wouldn’t be complete without two DJs spinning hits, disco-balled décor, and a ’70s dress code. She also hints that there’ll be a “live performance that promises not to disappoint.” Honoring the launch of the 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art, the fundraising from Studio 58 will support the grant. Though organized by Gibbes’ Society 1858, the party is open to non-members, as well. An after-party for the first 100 guests at next-door restaurant Eli’s Table will follow the blow out.
