The Windjammer has been a staple for music and food on the Isle of Palms since before many of us were born. Back for its third year, Sol Slam and the Windjammer takes it beachside with the festival hosted by the much-loved jam-rock band Sol Driven Train. On Saturday, the party starts in the early afternoon with a family-oriented day of music, followed by a night of jams from some of Charleston’s best bands along with a few out-of-towners. Artists include the Holy City’s Dangermuffin, Fowler’s Mustache, The Dead 27s, Royal Tinfoil, and Graham Whorley, along with Brooklyn-based alt-country band Yarn and the Shack Band from Richmond, Va. Sol Driven Train and the Windjammer will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) in memory of Becky Tarbotton, who was the organizations’ former executive director and a personal friend of the band. RAN is a nonprofit organization that helps companies and businesses strive to become more eco-friendly.
