Sol Slam 2012

When: Sat., Aug. 4 2012
Price: $20
If there was ever a local band with a name perfectly suited for a summertime bash, it has to be veteran quintet Sol Driven Train. Singer/guitarist/percussionist Joel Timmons, sax player/singer Russell Clarke, and singer/guitarist/trombonist Ward Buckheister regularly hit the stage with sunny vibes while bassist Rusty Cole and drummer Wes Powers beam cheerfully from the backline. The group celebrates summer with their second annual Sol Slam, an event on the IOP they describe as “a delicious, energizing summer beverage packed with musical refreshment and organic ingredients.” Night one of the Sol Slam 2012 features two sets from the band and special guests. The second day features performances on the deck and main stage from the V-Tones, Rachel Kate Gillon, Guilt Ridden Troubadour, Danielle Howle + Firework Show, Luke Cunningham, the Reckoning, Gaslight Street, Heyrocco, Fowler’s Mustache, Wadata, and Sol Driven Train themselves. The music on Saturday starts at 1 p.m.
