Skinful Halloween Number 9

It's a sexy slew of funk, electronica, and blues-rock at the Navy Yard on Oct. 24

Organized by local veterinarian and music connoisseur Brian King, the annual Skinful Halloween party is already in its ninth year. In previous years, King and his team held the big music ’n’ dance in various spots on James Island and Johns Island. This time, it’s in North Charleston at the spacious Navy Yard at Noisette (1360 Truxtun Ave.) on Sat. Oct. 24.

The festivities begin at 9 p.m. Skinful features live music from Dumpstaphunk (led skillful keyboardist and bandleader Ivan Neville, the son of legendary vocalist Aaron Neville), See-I (of Thievery Corp.), Sherik, Dub Island Soundsystem, The Shane Pruitt Band, The Key of Q, and M.O. Theory. Also on hand will be the wild antics of The Charleston High Rollers and the hotties of Bizarro Burlesque. Other activities and performances will include pole dancing, jump castles, a mechanical bull, glass walkers/eaters, circus performers, and electric hula-hoopers.

“This event is the area’s most unique Halloween party ,with a powerful line-up of music and entertainment that has something to satisfy the freak in everyone,” say festival organizers.

Food will be sold at the event (or BYOB for $10). Tickets can be purchased for $25 in advance at www.skinfulhalloween.com. It’s $30 at the door for general admission, and $100 for VIP tickets. Donations will go toward local nonprofit Keeper of the Wild, a wildlife rehabilitation organization.

**The event is for ages 21 and up only.
