Leon Simmons' house sits in the center of the 30 acres he raised his 15 children on. A third generation farmer, Frank Simmons now tends the land his family has looked after for the past 77 years. "I don't plant for wholesale," says Simmons, adding that the only people he'll be selling his spring crop to are crowds at farmers markets around the area. Look for him in Marion Square, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, and at MUSC. This spring he'll have plenty of greens, tomatoes, squash, cucumber, and watermelon.
