Saving Veronica

Charting Veronica's story

Baby Veronica is no longer a baby. She's not even a toddler. The smiley, curly-haired little girl last seen in Charleston draped over her dad's shoulder, trailed by a flock of reporters and photographers on her way to meet and go home with her other dad, is back in Charleston. But Veronica's story hasn't been confined to the Charleston suburbs and an Oklahoma Indian reservation, everyone has heard about Veronica. Now the hearings and press conferences are over, and even though a lot has happened in little Veronica's life in just four years, it will take longer than that for her relatives, neighbors, and friends to adapt to their new lives.

From Charleston, to the U.S. Supreme Court, to Nowata County, Oklahoma (and back), here's a look at how we got where we are today.
