Ryan Bailey and Cumberland Belle w/ A Fragile Tomorrow, Bridget Vogel

When: Fri., July 6 2012
Price: Free
Charleston songwriter Ryan Bailey and his Americana/rock band Cumberland Belle rarely play concerts these days. It seems that family life, day jobs, and life’s complexities have slowed things down for him and his bandmates. When they do hit the stage, however, things are solid and harmonically balanced — especially between Bailey and lead guitarist Carl Wine. “Right now, we’re just trying to get back out and start playing some shows again,” Bailey says. “With babies and such, we haven’t really played much at all the past few months. We’ve tossed around the idea of doing something like this at the Sparrow [1078 E. Montague Ave.] every couple of months and inviting different friends of ours each time to come and open. It would give us a good way to get our chops back and have some fun playing together again with some good people.” This Friday, Bailey, Wine, and bassist Shawn Leiberknight will hook back up with the band’s original drummer Parker Smith (one of the Sparrow’s head honchos). “Shawn and I were hanging out up there one day, talking to Parker about our current lack of a permanent drummer,” Bailey says. “The idea came up to do a show there with him, which, of course, we all thought sounded fun.”
