Robert Fields has been planting a 10-acre plot beside his younger brother Joseph for more than 40 years. In the spring, he harvests tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupes, string beans, cucumbers, and peppers. Look out for his hearty veggies and melons at the Saturday Charleston Farmers Market and at Thursday markets held in North Charleston and on Daniel Island. To find Robert's farm, turn off of River Road at the two S.C. State Bulldog Football statues, symbols of the farmer's second love.
