SHORTY ON THE SCENE. With his hip-hop-flavored jazz stylings and sexy, wife-beater-wearin’ swagger, Grammy nominee Trombone Shorty is arguably one of the hottest tickets on this year’s Spoleto schedule. The Charleston City Paper and Spoleto SCENE, the festival’s young professionals group, are teaming up to host a New Orleans-inspired bash after his second and final concert at the Cistern.
LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULER. There will be dancing at Trombone Shorty’s concert, and you’re not going to want to stop when the music ends. So head a couple blocks over to the old Millennium Music building for more music, drinks from Abita Beer and Firefly, and a chance to meet the band.
LOCKED OUT. No one under the age of 21 will be allowed into the party, and you won’t be able to buy a ticket unless you’ve attended one of Shorty’s Spoleto performances. To purchase a combo ticket, stop by the Spoleto box office or visit spoletousa.org. Tickets will be sold at the door if they don’t sell out in advance.
