Rare is the chance to see an artist in his or her natural habitat. A reclusive bunch they are, slipping quietly from nondescript dive bars to their one-room apartments. However, Redux Contemporary Art Center makes the impossible possible with another installment of its biannual Open Studio series. On Saturday, Redux will give the Lowcountry a chance to see a collection of 30 artists at work. “Artists are encouraged to open their curtains to the public, providing a great way for locals to meet and interact with the artists,” explains Executive Director Karen Ann Myers. The open house-style exhibition will allow patrons to explore the more than 20 working studio spaces, interact with the artists, learn their tricks of the trade, and immerse themselves in a diverse display of local talent. Following the Open Studio will be a $5 tape release party for the Babylips, who will perform with Charlie McAlister and the White Honies and Josh Jeffords.
