The clothing swap became very vogue for recessionistas after the economy tanked in 2008, but sometimes, as you’re sorting through cast-off shirts and dresses, you get a hankering for something different. Like maybe a record, or a neat homegood, or a new used book. So for Re-Trend’s next local swap, they’re inviting attendees to bring all sorts of items besides clothing. For the Mother Earth Swap-All, guests can trade their castoffs for new stuff — just pay the $1 entry fee and bring up to 10 undamaged goods to trade. Dog-oriented items count for two swaps, with all leftovers going to the Animal Helpers Re-TAIL store. The event takes place at the Tin Roof on Mother’s Day, which will provide a good opportunity to find any last-minute gifts.
