A closet full of clothes and nothing to wear? It’s an age-old problem and one that strikes much too often. But the Re-Trend Clothing Swap is here to solve that. It works just like it sounds — bring in clothes that you’re tired of and switch them out. The clothes need to be clean, gently-used, and good quality, men’s or women’s. Accessories and shoes are also swappable. Participants can bring a maximum of 10 items and then switch them to update their wardrobes. Lindsey Chambers, the swap founder, even shops at her events. “I’ve found an Anthropologie skirt, a French Connection zip-up summer dress with pockets, 7 For All Mankind jeans which fit perfectly, and a fabulous gold cuff bracelet,” says Chambers. Her advice for finding equally good treasures? “I would recommend you come at 5 p.m., check in your items for the swap, shop a little, have a drink or a bite at the bar, grab a treat for your dog, and check back in and shop throughout the day, as new items will be brought in constantly between 5 and 8 [ p.m.]. That way you’ll have the best chance of finding the best items,” she offers. And if you run out of swaps, you can buy additional items for $3 a pop. The Lucky Puppy Truck will be there with treats for your pups, and any leftover clothes will be donated to charity.
