96 WAVE: ROSSI OUT

Word had it this week that longtime 96 Wave program director and afternoon jock Dave Rossi had either been let go or stepped aside from his duties at the station. We didn't confirm the details, but we got an official response –

96 Wave receptionist: "Hello, Apex Broadcasting."

City Paper: "Hello, may I speak with Dave Rossi please?"

96 Wave receptionist: "He no longer works here."

City Paper: "There someone on the staff who can tell us more about who might become the program director?"

96 Wave receptionist: "I'll transfer you..."

[Apex vice president and general manager Chris Johnson's voicemail...]

No mention at all about it at www.96wave.com. Hmmmm...

DRAMATIC

Local riff-rock/alternative band The DaliDrama made their official debut only a few months ago and they're already halfway through recording their debut full-length. They've tracked a half-dozen songs with engineer Chris Walldorf (of N.C. ensemble Pyramid) at Sioux Sioux Studio, the engineer's home studio in Charlotte. The Drama share the stage at Cumberland's this Fri. Dec. 15 with Columbia act Hot Lava Monster (who have a brand-new one titled The Belly of a Whale), LaHorla, and DJ D-Rock. Check out www.myspace.com/thedalidrama for more.

GRASSY STUFF

Local duo FolkGrass – electric mandolinist Aaron Firetag and guitarist Bryan Watson – have been handling regular evening gigs at Madra Rua (on Tuesdays) and Fiddler's Green (every other Friday). This month, they've signed on to play weekly sets at West Ashley Bait & Tackle on Thursdays from 7-10 p.m. "We will be covering a range of styles from singer-songwriter to traditional bluegrass and folk music," says Watson. See www.westashleybaitandtackle.com and www.myspace.com/folkgrass. –TBL
