Presents from Punks is the ultimate win-win event. Local artists donate a few pieces and gain exposure from a popular art show. Prices are kept low (below $50!), and shoppers get great, local art on the cheap. And 100 percent of proceeds from the event will help buy food and toys for lower-income kids.
Organized by local artists Jon Stout and Sht!, last year’s inaugural show nearly sold out before 10 p.m. and raised $2,000. This year features work from cool artists like Wolfkid, Phillip Hyman, Scott Debus, Lisa Shimko, Cletus, Chuck Keppler, Matthew Bowers, Julio Cotto, Joanna Jackson, City Paper’s Joshua Curry, and many more.
Expect to find more affordable prints than last year’s event — Sht! will have screenprint posters and Stout will have 8x10s for “a steal of a price.” They’ll also have a silent auction for bigger pieces from artists like Kevin Taylor. Dante’s Camaro will play at 10:30 p.m., followed by Rocky Horror at 11:30 p.m. —Erica Jackson
