Inspired by the spirit of the Venetian Carnival, Chamber Music Charleston will host the Ovation Concert Series. Flutist Regina Helcher Yost and bassoonist Sandra Nikolajevs lead the way as the Chamber’s talented musicians put a Venetian spin on selections from Vivaldi, Haydn, and Agricole. In addition to the music, the Ovation Concert has been prepping for visual fancy too. “We’re taking special care with our sets and lighting to make the Memminger’s inside transport you to the streets of 1800s Venice,” says Nikolajevs, who is also the Chamber’s artistic director. There will be two showings of the concert; the first is dedicated to children — ages four through 10 — and includes an informative discussion about the instruments, sing-alongs, and an interactive Venetian story set to music. Come evening time, bistro tables will surround the stage as guests sip wine and are transported to Venice for the evening.
