Maria Baldwin revived vegetable production on Thornhill Farm’s 100 acres in McClellanville and established Our Local Foods as a model of sustainable agriculture. OLF is home to a CSA program with upwards of 140 subscribers, Adaptive Gardens horticultural therapy, a farm store that features Thornhill produce and other artisanal Lowcountry products, a restaurant/grocery, and an online local food delivery service. The produce grown at Thornhill Farm is all certified organic and GAP certified. Baldwin has a close relationship with Husk and McCrady’s executive chef Sean Brock, dedicating a plot to growing heirloom vegetables for the two popular restaurants. Her CSA program has three seasons: winter/spring, spring/early summer, and late summer/fall. This fall, they’ll have a CSA with a variety of share sizes and fresh produce, including things like beets, cucumbers, choi, kale, carrots, mustard greens, and rutabaga. They also have chickens, pigs, and lambs on site, pastured and raised by their mothers. Get Thornhill produce at their Clements Ferry Road market or order online.
