With pie names like "The Baked Potato," the "Flying Hawaiian," and the "Taco," Johns Island newest pizzeria, New Moon and Pub aims at being more than just another place to get a slice.
Co-owners Dave Christopher and Paul "Snappy" Farrell have spent the last four months cooking hundreds of different pie combinations in Farrell's home kitchen, and are finally ready to share what they've come up with.
"We were just going to do pizzas and beer, like they used to have back the in the '70s, but then, when we came out to Johns Island we felt there was a need for a different kind of food," explains Farrell.
The deck-oven cooked 12-inch pies at New Moon will be topped with the freshest and most local ingredients possible, with much of the produce coming from local farms. Along with tasty pies, New Moon will also offer signature salads, burgers, sandwiches and appetizers, including the stuffed portabella sandwich and the Hawaiian burger.
They plan to have live music and a large variety of wine and beer.
New Moon Pizzeria & Pub, located at 2817 Maybank Highway, will open its doors to the public on Sat. May 1 at 4 p.m. Regular hours will be Mon.-Thurs., 5 p.m.- midnight, Fri. & Sat., 5 p.m.-1a.m., and Sun. noon-5 p.m.
