One man. Three movies. One hour. Charles Ross is passionate about Lord of the Rings. So passionate that he took the trilogy and condensed it into a 60-minute ride through Middle Earth. If I know Tolkien fanboys like I think I do (and I do, I dated one for three years), they are going to eat this show up like a hearty helping of Lembas elvish waybread.
Legolas! What do your elf eyes see? Whether you're watching with elf eyes or just the old standby human ones, you'll see Ross portray 42 different characters. That includes orcs, Gollum, and our favorite furry-footed friend, Frodo Baggins.
Laughing with you, not at you. "I obviously love the source material," says Ross. "I'm open to ridicule because it's clear that I love it. Instead of laughing because I love it, you laugh because you love it." In other words, Ross' lampoon comes from an earnest desire to share Tolkien's story, even if that requires a few potshots at Peter Jackson. While the Hollywood director may have raked in the Oscars and cash for his films, turns out there's only one ring and one man to rule them all. Charles Ross is it.
