For a lot of kids, New Year’s Eve is a rare excuse to stay awake until midnight to see the ball drop. And if your children are anything like I was, they’ll crash by 9:30 p.m. from leftover Christmas cookies and one too many glasses of sparkling grape juice, leaving you perplexed as to why you decided to cancel the babysitter after all. That’s why the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry created Noon Year’s Eve, an all-day family festival full of art projects and games. It not only lets you celebrate the usually adults-only holiday with your kids, but the event is sure to wear them out in time for the sitter. The party culminates with the museum’s version of a glittery ball drop at the early hour of 12 p.m. And if you still haven’t decided on any resolutions, the museum is offering $12 off their yearly family membership at this event.
