Since 2005 the nonprofit organization New Music Collective has been organizing concerts allowing young composers and performers to showcase their latest and most creative works. Composers and performers from Chicago, New York, the College of Charleston, Theatre 99, and many more have come together to make their spring fund-raiser an event not to be missed. Morimoto, the Opposite of a Train, Slow Runner, and Quentin Baxter are just some of the musicians who have worked with NMC over the years, and they’ll be performing an array of stylings including pop rock, modern jazz, and folksy improv. The NMC Ensemble will perform as well. Tickets to the event include beer, wine, and food from local restaurants Ted’s Butcherblock, Sermet’s Corner, and more. There will also be a silent auction provided by local area businesses. If you’re into keeping local businesses and artists thriving, then you definitely don’t want to miss this fund-raiser.
